The Snowballers: Work in progress, Part II - Video editing

The snowballers are ready to tell you about how the editing video step has proceeded during this week! First of all we finally completed our physical prototype process, completed with the help of the 3D printer. Here below we can finally see some pictures of our Robobally and of the special keyboard: We started with lot of different ideas, but then we decided to divide and to focus the video in the following steps: -  We started from the problems of the stakeholders (and we showed two different problem scenarios) - Brainstorming to find out a suitable idea to the problems - Our idea: solution to the problems -> Robobally - Idea validation (through the use of online services) -  User testing: voice commands - Special guest for testing After the first shooting in the university Cafè, we filmed the 3D printing process in TutLab, in order to include also this step in our final video.  Then we proceeded with the filming of user testing, ...

The Snowballers: Work in progress, Part I

Hi again! :) The snowballers team work almost came to his end... but not yet! During these weeks we worked a lot to design our final prototype of "Robobally" and to create our product video. With lot of meetings and brainstorming a lot of nice ideas came to our minds. For the product prototype development we decided to focus our attention on the visual appearance prototype and on the interactive one, (instead of the paper prototype that was mentioned in the previous blog post). We thought that proceeding by this way, the product "functionalities"could have been shown better. From the visual and appearance prototype point of view we created the Robobally shape and the physical keyboard using a 3D design. during this step we Started creating  the model with the help of a web 3D design software, and concluding the work with the actual printing at TUTLab. For the interactive prototype we created it using a voice command web service that permit us t...

The Snowballers: Validating idea

The last week's workshop was about finding the value proposition and build MVP. We created a story board to test our MVP and created a questionnaire to test our MVP.  We also created the value proposition. Throughout the week we circulated the questionnaire and received 22 responses so far. Most of the responses were positive and people gave feedback like " .. please invent something like that " and " a t this point a robot to assist my daily chores would be the absolutely awesome ".  Storyboard of the project that demonstrates some of the possible usage scenarios Our formulated UX goals are: control (by being able to operate with the schedule, setup new events and customize the robot) awareness (by notifying user about upcoming events and other matters) utility (by delivering useful tools and utilities in the robot) emotional stability (by offering stress-relieving activities and conversations via robot) From the questionnaire and sto...

The Snowballers: Ideation!

Greetings again! :) Another week has passed and we want to tell you the latest news about the Snowballers team :D During the workshop number 4, we focused our attention on ideation process, experimenting different ways of brainstorming in order to boost our creativity. We found this workshop very funny, but at the same time useful because we manage to come up with lot of new ideas for our team project. The question we focused on was: "How might we engage the users with our product?" We started with our ideation process, where we collect a lot of ideas: in the initial phase it wasn't important the quality of the ideas, but just the quantity. We let our minds flow and we wrote down all the possible ideas that came to our minds. We started with an "individual" brainstorming, to pass then to the team brainstorming, where we expressed and discussed the individual ideas. Altogether we had around 18 ideas. We tried to think to all the possible to...

The Snowballers: User Study and Exploration

Hello again! This weeks brings us to actual user studies that we managed to conduct through a bunch of interviews and some questionairies. But first, let us talk about segmentation and why is it important.

The Snowballers: Trends, standards and text walls

Updated  group selfie of the team Hello, this week our team was present in the workshop as a whole and contributed equally in making the trend map. This Monday we conducted a meeting at TUT to work on some of the matters related to this week' assignments. As a result - we came up with some text walls and thoughts about trends, standards and other related topic.  Team Homework # 1 Pavel Chistov was responsible for finalising the trend map. What is on our trend map and why?  Presented mindmap our team came up with has a specified structure which is based on a interconnected fields of the technology that has a potential for the future. AI development (mainly in terms of learning and actual robotic vision)  Social robots (that utilizes some of the principles of current psychology achievements and theories)  Education (which partly contains other areas’ items to support learning process)  Exoskeletons (presumably for medical care and ...

The Snowballers: Beginning of the path

Hello! :) As for our first post here, it is time for some introduction! Our group is formed by three people: Pavel Chistov, Ilaria Failla and Aparajita Chowdhury. Pavel and Aparajita are both from UX/HTI unit, while Ilaria's beckground is Telecommunication Engineering. After some short (and undoubtedly creative) thought, we decided to call our group the "Snowballers". Unfortunately, there were only two of us (Pavel and Ilaria) that participated in the first exercize session due to our third member, Aparajita, wasn't able to attend it. But we are planning to upload a second picture all together this week! The ultimate goal of our group is to mix our different backgrounds in order to achieve a result in a form of a prototype that can be analysed from different points of view. In our team project we will strive to create something new that values the time investment of potential users (and ours) and include a great level of detail. At this point, our...
